Magdalen Family Medical & Financial Support

Dear Magdalen Family and Friends,

We are the proud parents of our son Daniel and his beautiful wife, Laura. And, we are the grandparents of our adorable granddaughters, Emmie (10) and Addie (7).

Those of you who know them personally, know firsthand their generous hearts, their loyal friendship, their compassion, and their heartfelt prayers for you. Now is the time to come alongside this amazing family and surround them with your love, prayers, and support.

The truth we will share with you in this letter is overwhelming. This family has been tested and put through hell with the health challenges and struggles that Dan has been facing since April 2021:

In February 2023, Dan Magdalen went in for his first surgery that was stopped abruptly. His BP plummeted and he came within seconds of a full cardiac arrest. After a brief recovery to let his heart and kidneys repair, he had a successful surgery in April. Unfortunately, this came with several ongoing complications.

Along with battling all of this, Dan has also had to overcome 10 diverticulitis infections, passed dozens of kidney stones, endured many different physical therapy sessions, and battled several heart and BP challenges from so much blood loss. He has been anemic for several months at a time and received numerous iron infusions as a result.

The official diagnosis: Diverticular Disease (along with other complications within his colon, intestines, and inguinal canal). In January 2024, he celebrated his first full month of no hospital visits since 2021. Unfortunately, this was short lived, as he landed back in the ER with another Diverticular Hemorrhage on February 3rd. The ER doctor moved quickly and got him some immediate assistance from the gastroenterologist and other medical specialists and surgeons.

As a result, Dan is now waiting for another colonoscopy, along with an endoscopy, to look at surgery risks for having sigmoid colectomy surgery and even a second surgery to repair an advanced paraoesophageal hernia.

We are giving you this detailed glimpse of the battle that Dan has been going through over the past few years. Of course, this also comes with the unimaginable trials that his family have been contending with alongside their husband and father.

This is why we are asking for your much-needed prayers and financial support. Although Dan held a full-time job, as well as another part-time position when this season began, 2023 was a struggle for him to find employment while navigating all of his medical challenges. We know that these past few years have been a struggle financially and it is very hard for them to openly share about these struggles and/or even reach out and ask for help in any way.

As you can imagine, 2024 is not looking much better with the up-and-coming surgeries and periods of recovery. The medical bills have been increasing! Dan and Laura have fought hard to try and find finances and resources, but the mountain of medical bills has become a huge burden and we know that they need help!

We are writing to encourage you to help assist our kids and grandkids at this critical juncture. Will you please help them “get out of the deep hole” caused by their excessive medical bills? Will you please assist them by praying, by donating, and by passing this letter along to others within your communities (churches and networks)?
