On Thursday, August 20th Magda, Josh, Elska, and baby Alva lost their home to the lightning complex fires here in Santa Cruz. This property has been in Magda’s family for three generations, each adding more love and beauty. As many of you might know, Josh has spent the last year remodeling both houses on the property. They had been building their dream property in preparation for the arrival of Baby Alva, only to see everything burned weeks after completion.
Magda and Josh hurried to evacuate Tuesday evening when the fires started by the thunderstorm a few nights earlier began to approach their home. They were only able to grab their dogs, important paperwork, plus a few essentials and retreat to safety.
They are currently living in their van, heading north, trying to seek refuge from the fires and smoke with their two young girls (3 yrs old & 7 weeks old) and two big dogs.
We hope you can join us in helping their family recover in this difficult time. Although the loss is incalculable, we hope this will make the recovery easier and provide them with funds for temporary housing, baby supplies, living expenses, and eventually rebuilding their life.
