I will not capitulate to the musings of authoritarian sycophants. This country has made it abundantly clear that it is more willing to punish those who stand against oppression than the perpetrators of that oppression. I am just one of many black people who is being "punished" for not sugar coating the legacy of a Klansman. It is most likely time to seek better options for our safety and well being elsewhere. The funds gifted here would go towards moving/living expenses until we can get reestablished in a better place of residence. I will not be silent in the face of white supremacy but I also know that my family's safety is paramount. I will never stop doing the work needed to combat these systems of oppression and making sure my loved ones are protected is part of that work. Hopefully we can find a community/ work environment that uplifts, protects and fights for marginalized peoples instead of paying them lip service by downplaying the severity of the rhetoric of people like CK as solely a "DIFFERENCE OF OPINION". I will not apologize for standing ten toes down and if given the opportunity again, I would make the same choice. As I type this we are one the 6th step of 7 for an authoritarian takeover and I will be complacent or idle on the sidelines of history.
