Mafalda's Medical Fund

Hello, my name is Sofia Wintheiser and I decided to create a Go Fund Me account in hopes to raise money and help my parents out with future medical expenses.

Like many families, mine too has been affected by cancer. Early in 2013 my mother was diagnosed with stage 4-breast cancer. Over the past couple of years I have seen my mother go through chemotherapy and radiation. Throughout this whole ordeal my mother has remained positive and continued on with her normal lifestyle of working full time and caring for her family. Her perseverance and determination has motivated and inspired so many people, including myself.

Two weeks ago we found out my mother’s brain had necrosis due to radiation. The neurosurgeon believes that as well as necrosis there are cancer cells growing within and they are spreading fast. My mother needs to have brain surgery as soon as possible and with that comes a lot of medical expenses. My parents are struggling financially and as their daughter it breaks my heart because I wish I could help take care of them. My mother will be unable to work for approximately one month, if not more depending on how she reacts to the surgery. With that said my parents would have no income coming into their household. Her surgery alone will cost approximately 7 thousand dollars and the aftercare we are still unsure of.

All funds will go strictly towards caring for my mother and her medical expenses. We need the funds as soon as possible since my mother is scheduled for brain surgery December 29 and will be hospitalized until after the New Year.

I cannot even begin to express how much it would mean to me if people would come together and help my parents out. I was blessed to have her be at my wedding but I want my mother around when I have my own children. My mother is my very best friend and watching her suffer is very difficult. It truly would mean the world to me if my parents did not have to stress over finances during this very difficult time with so many uncertainties.
