On June 11th, 2022, the 44th anniversary of our family's arrival in California from NY, our mom, Mae Murphy, was able to finally reunite with the love of her life after almost 47 years when she lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer.
I'm sure daddy ran right past St. Peter to be the first one to welcome her to the Pearly Gates! He was 43 when he died and they only had 11 years of marriage to cherish each other.
We all felt his loss, but none more then mom. She always kept the memory of her beloved husband Ed alive, in her heart and in her children's lives.
She was known by many names in her 85 years on this planet: daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, nurse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and even Sister Mary Dismas, but the one she treasured most was "wife".
In all her years she never lost her fiesty attitude or her New York accent. Her notorious St Patrick's Day parties were the talk of the town. She was dearly loved and she'll be missed by so many.
Mom's final wish was to have her children take her back to New York to be buried with her soulmate, Ed. Please help us in honoring her dream.
In lieu of flowers, and for those who wish to express sympathy, our family requests that you consider making a donation towards our travel expenses so all 3 children can be in attendance when she reaches her final resting place. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your condolences, thoughts, prayers and donations. Please feel free to share this link to inform others who loved and cared for her.
We would love it if you would note your favorite stories and fondest memories here for all to see. We will cherish them all.
I love you, Mom.
We miss you already.

(There seems to be a problem with the site. People have been unable to post and I'm not able to send "thank you's" out at this time. Please know I am working on it but until then, I wanted everyone to know how grateful we are for your condolences and donations. It's a humbling thing to have to ask for help. I debated for a long time before I posted this. But I realized neither my ego or pride should stop me from honoring my mother's wishes.
You have truly touched our hearts.
Thank you.)
