Mads Heart Journey- Help us give Mads the care he needs.
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I never thought I’d be in this position—asking for help. But as a mother, I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Mads gets the care he needs.
Mads was born with a rare and complex congenital heart defect called isolated aortic atresia with a large VSD. Before he was even born, we knew he would need multiple open-heart surgeries to survive. At just five days old, he underwent his first—the Norwood procedure—a massive surgery to reconstruct his tiny heart so it could keep him alive. Against all odds, he recovered faster than anyone expected, spending only 12 days in the hospital.
Mads is strong, but his journey isn’t over. His next open-heart surgery, the Rastelli procedure, is scheduled for May. This operation will reroute blood flow to improve his heart function and give him the best possible chance at a full life. As we prepare for this, the weight of medical expenses is becoming unbearable. Even with insurance, the bills from his birth, NICU stay, echos, ultrasounds, specialist visits, and his first surgery have been piling up. Every day, we receive more calls from collectors, and the financial strain is something we simply can’t manage alone anymore.
We’ve been doing everything we can—budgeting, working, trying to stay on top of it all—but the reality is that Mads needs another life-saving surgery, and the costs are overwhelming.
I’m asking for help, not just for me, but for my baby. For Mads, who deserves every chance at a full and healthy life. Any donation, no matter how small, will go toward his medical expenses and ensure he gets the care he needs. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this means just as much.
Thank you for supporting Mads, for being part of his journey, and for lifting us up in a time when we need it most.
With love,
