Madison is a very sweet, smart 14-year-old loving young girl, who enjoys hanging out with her friends and pets, volunteering at the skilled nursing facility where her mom, Danielle is the Business Office Manager, and of course being a role model and big sister to 4-year-old Georgia.
This past Christmas, Madison and her family received devastating news with the diagnosis of a very rare form of Pediatric Renal Cell Carcinoma; typically affecting less than 100 children per year. At first, doctors thought she may have had a benign cyst on her kidney. During her operation in December, while children were excited about the arrival of Santa Claus and the holiday school break, Madison underwent exploratory surgery. It was discovered then, that affected cells appeared different from the rest… and unfortunately, they were.
This month she will once again head to the operating room to undergo a Nephrectomy procedure. As we pray that that this Cancer has not spread to other areas of her body, the medical bills and regular life expenses are increasing daily for Danielle.
Friends, it seems impossible that this otherwise healthy, funny, typical teenager is now a Cancer fighter. Yet this IS the new reality for our very own brave “Miss Madison”.
