Madison's Recovery Fund
I'm a 34 year old trans woman and a survivor of severe, prolonged abuse. I used to do a lot of public speaking and workshops on sexual violence issues and transmisogyny. However, I have Complex PTSD and Dissociative Identity Disorder. My symptoms have progressed to the point where I can no longer work and I am currently scraping by on income assistance, which means I can't afford the very effective and neccesary therapy I need to recover. With the right therapy, most DID sufferers make a complete recovery.
I have been able to see a therapist who does Generative Somatics, which is a therapy which works with trauma directly through the body. I've made a lot of progress since I've started seeing her and I've been paying her by doing some design work for her. She's run out of stuff for me to do so I need to start paying her money, which costs $60 a session on her sliding scale.
Ideally it would be great to see her once a week, but even every other week would make a big difference in my recovery. What keeps me pushing forward is knowing that I will be so much more effective in my work fighting sexual violence & transphobia, but I have to heal before I'm capable of taking that on again. I've suffered monstrous abuses in my life which most people will thankfully never have to experience, but I want to use my experience as a survivor to make sure that other people don't have to to suffer alone like I did.
More than anything I just want to leave this world a little more just and compassionate than I found it. I dearly appreciate any assistance you can give me as I strive toward that. <3
Fierce love,
-Madison
