On August 23rd, 2005 Madison Renee Fuentes was born. I was blessed by my best friend Carla Fuentes with a beautiful new niece.  She was an amazingly smart, beautiful, talented, loving girl: who sometimes bugged her older sister Skyler; as many younger sisters do. In her brief less than 13 years here on Earth she impacted and touched so many people with her fun-loving personality, wonderful sense of humor and sweet disposition. I still can’t believe your gone. My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ll never understand why he took you so young 12 years was not long enough we still had so many more memories to make but I will always cherish the ones we made. I was blessed to have you in my life and I will carry you always in my heart. So many things I’m going to miss your silliness, your beautiful smile, trying to sneak a picture before you could turn your face...you were a beautiful talented smart young lady who would have done many more amazing things.

She was a member of two gifted and talented programs, National Junior Honor Society, all Pre-Ap classes, UIL and art competitions. I know there would have been no limits to her success and what she could have offered the world. Her dream was to be a veterinarian she and her sister would try to rescue every  kind of stray animal they found. In the summer of 2018, she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Dermatomyositis. Which only two to four people per million each year are diagnosed with. She got her first transfusion July 23, 2018, to help manage the symptoms since there is no cure for this disease. Within a few days, she became gravely ill. By the end of the week my lively, loving niece was in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Texas Children's hospital. The doctors and specialists did all they could while she was in intensive care for two weeks. But despite her being awake and fighting as hard as she could her heart and organs were not able to recover. My beautiful niece passed on Sunday, August 12, 2018, peacefully with her family at her side.

I am reaching out to friends and family to try to help raise funds that have accumulated from medical, hospital and burial expenses for my sweet Madison. Her mother is also starting a scholarship under Madison's name to honor her memory and help others who live and struggle with autoimmune disorders. Maybe someday there will be a cure for these diseases. So another family does not have to lose an amazing girl like my kind-hearted niece Madison. My sweet angel, I know you are free of pain now and will be watching over your mom, sister Skyler and me. I love you and until I see you again...
