House lost in Malden fire-Help for Matt & Maddy

Madeleine Perkins, Matt Mason, and their two sons lost their house to the wildfires in Malden, Washington state on Labor Day, September 7th. Since then they have been living in a friend's place in nearby Rosalia. I'm starting this GoFundMe to give them a small financial boost to hopefully make their lives a little easier.

Madeleine works for the USPS, and Matt is an electrician. They purchased the house in Malden for $55,00, and put tens of thousands of dollars into it's electrical wiring, structure, appliances, and cabinetry. They intended to sell the house after finishing their renovations. Besides the house, they also lost their garage and another shed property on the land, as well as a car. Matt's electrical tools, baby photos, fishing, hunting, & camping gear, our grandmother's antiques, and our mother's piano all burned in the fire. They can't currently locate their cat.

Between property, renovations, and the house, they lost at least $150,000 in investments. However, what can't be measured financially is the sentimental value of losing the home my nephews were raised in.

Madeleine and her family are trying their best to rebound, but they have al suffered an incalculable loss. Matt and Madeleine have put their sweat and tears into making a home for their children, working hard, and has done everything right. Almost everything they had has been taken from them in a matter of hours, along with 80% of the rest of the town. Please, if you can do anything to help them, even just a little, they would appreciate it.

My sister is one of the most hard-working and deserving people I know. She and Matt have already struggled so hard to build a life for their family, and she didn't deserve to have it taken away from her. As they start the long and slow process of trying to collect insurance, grieving their loss, taking care of two sons, working full-time, and figuring out where their family goes from here, I just want to try to ease the burden of worrying about money. Your donation will be spent paying for temporary housing, purchasing clothes and other essentials lost in the fire, and feeding themselves and their sons.

Please, if you can spare anything, even a little, my family would appreciate it.
