On August 8th, 2012, Madeleine and her brother Sloan came into the world at 26 weeks. During her stay in the NICU, Madeleine sustained grades two and three bilateral brain bleeds. The resulting damage to her brain has led to a diagnosis of spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. Just shy of age three, she cannot walk, and has difficulty performing simple tasks such as sitting on her own and feeding herself.

Madeleine's mother, Tiffany, wrote this about her daughter:

I am blessed by her daily. God continues to show me how He can create such beauty from what seems like some of the darkest and most difficult moments.

I can still remember the moment we were told that we had to make a choice. If we wanted to possibly save our son, we would have to deliver immediately. However, that also meant putting our perfectly healthy daughter at risk as well. That nearly knocked the wind from my lungs. We had to choose. Decide between losing our son or putting our daughter in harms way. Obviously we chose to make the unimaginably difficult decision to let them both have a chance at life while at the same time putting them both at great risk for so many things. We chose this.

What I didn't know at the time was what would come from that choice.

It would turn out to be one of my greatest blessings. What would come from that choice would turn out to be my greatest inspiration. What would come from that choice would turn out to be strength that I could only attribute to my Lord, faith that would be stronger and more substantial than before, perspective of what really matters, love for my family that is deeper and stronger than I knew possible, and an appreciation for things I might otherwise take for granted. What would come from it all would be the realization that while we made this choice, this choice has also made us. What would come from it all would ultimately be my joy.

Knowing that she was created for God's glory and purpose - that is my joy. God chose us to be her parents. I am thankful He did. That is my joy.

Madeleine has exceeded the number of therapy sessions per year covered by insurance for 2015.  The monetary goal that has been set would cover Madeleine's needed therapy for the remainder of 2015, and allow her to continue to develop her fine and gross motor skills.  

This beautiful soul lights up a room with her smile. She has already come so far but Madi has many miles ahead of her.  Please help her to progress so that she may light up the world as she moves through it.
