I am Maddy's mom, one year ago Maddy participated in the RBC Training Ground. she was then invited to participate in further testing with the Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton Team. After that things moved very fast. She attended a few 'push' camps in Calgary and then a sliding school in Whistler. In December, she was then invited to participate in the North American Cup and PanAmerican Junior Cup races in Park City Utah. She left there with gold in the Junior U20 and Junior U23 PanAmerican Championships. From there she was signed to Team Canada and spent the next several months between home and Whistler for training. All the while she has been attending grade 12 and working part time. We are all so excited, but also still in shock over the last year. This was not her original path, but life has given her an amazing opportunity and we want her to be able to do everything she can to follow this new dream. Please keep reading to hear her own story.
Madeline:
Hi, my name is Madeline Parra and I’m a 17-year-old athlete who has been selected to represent Canada as a NextGen athlete for Skeleton. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity, and I am beyond thrilled to start this journey toward achieving my dreams!
Skeleton is a sport that requires intense dedication, mental toughness, and physical strength, and it’s a dream of mine to one day compete in the Winter Olympics, with the ultimate goal of making the 2030 Olympics in the French Alps. To get there, however, there are a lot of costs associated with my training and competitions.
For this upcoming season, my estimated expenses are over $20,000. This includes the costs of training, flights, race fees, accommodations, and food. One of the more significant costs I’ve faced already is the purchase of a helmet, which came in at $865. Every bit of support I can receive will help ease these financial burdens and allow me to focus fully on my training and improving my performance.
I’m reaching out today to ask for your help. Every donation will go directly toward covering the costs of my training, travel, and competition fees. With your support, I can stay focused on what matters most: pushing my limits, giving my all in every race, and chasing my Olympic dreams.
No contribution is too small, and every dollar helps. Thank you so much for your support and for being part of this exciting journey with me. Together, we can make my Olympic dream a reality!
Goal: 2030 Olympics in the French Alps.
Thank you again for your generosity!
