Madeline and Jake Travel to Kings Cx

Hello! Our names are Madeline Stover and Jake Johansen from Portland, Oregon. We are working to raise money to travel to Kings XC in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have been training with Bill Warburton from Cascadia Junior Cycling for the last three years, training 10-15 hours a week. From an early age, we have both raced our bikes all around Oregon. We are looking to take our talents to a national level, and competing in this race will open up more opportunities in the future.

We've spent the last years training and racing locally, and we feel we have the potential to compete at a higher level; however, getting to these races is really hard to afford because of how far away we live from these bigger races. We have decided on Kings CX because it is a junior selection race for the cyclocross world championship team, and all the best juniors in the country will be attending this race. Going to this race will help us achieve our ultimate goal: to race World Cups and other big races in Europe at the December race block and put ourselves in a good position to perform well at Nationals.

We were both selected for the cyclocross Olympic development academy, for which our parents helped cover our tuition costs. Because of that, we are seeking outside funding to help us travel to Kings. This funding will help cover plane tickets, baggage fees, rental car, hotel and food.
