Madeleine fulfil her goal to become a professional ballerina
Don protégé
Hi, my name is Madeleine McGimpsey, and I’m a pre-professional ballet dancer from Sydney, Australia. I’ve dedicated my life to becoming a professional ballerina, and every day I work tirelessly to make that dream a reality.
Over the past two and a half years, however, my journey has been far from easy. I’ve faced three back stress fractures and a slipped disc – injuries that not only took me out of the studio but also made simple things like walking or sitting for long periods incredibly painful. For someone who’s used to dancing all day, every day, this was one of the most difficult times in my life.
But I didn’t give up.
Over the past year, I’ve poured everything into my recovery – physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve worked harder than ever to rebuild my strength, refine my technique, and come back even stronger than before. At the end of last year, I was proud to sit my Advanced 1 Royal Academy of Dance exam, and I’m thrilled to share that I passed with Distinction.
Now, a new chapter begins.
I’ve recently been accepted into three incredible international ballet summer intensives:
- American Ballet Theatre (California)
- Ellison Ballet (New York City)
- European School of Ballet (Marseille)
These programs are taught by world-class faculty and offer opportunities that could shape my future as a professional dancer. I’m beyond excited to travel, train, and grow as an artist—but as you can imagine, these opportunities come with significant expenses: tuition, flights, accommodation, and essential items like pointe shoes.
That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe—to ask for your support in helping me get one step closer to my dream.
Every contribution, no matter the size, means the world to me and brings me closer to a future on stage. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting my journey.
With gratitude,
Madeleine McGimpsey
