Made in Camer ! Jobs for Africa

Welcome to the Made In Camer GoFundMe page.

My name is Kibonen - I am a fashion designer and social entrepreneur. I am the head designer of Kibonen New York. The Co-Founder of the Cameroon Fashion Association of America and founder of  the Made in Camer Apparel Manufacturing plant.

I have always loved bringing beautifully crafted clothes to the world - however the aspect of changing lives through the clothes I make have always been my purpose.

The Kibonen NY Brand skyrocketed in popularity when I was stopped on the streets of New York City by Brandon of Humans of New York. My story was captured and shared on facebook and instagram and the followers went from 16,000 on the Kibonen NY Facebook to 74,000 and the website shut down due to the traffic generated by the posts.  (Click on the image below to read the post and click on the back arrow to read the full story.)

After the Humans of New York post, actress Blake Lively also posted about Kibonen on her social media page  with this caption

"Just read the story of @kibonen_ny --the designer of this rad jumpsuit-- on @humansofny . She's amazing and has a story to tell in her work and in her life. I love learning about hidden treasures! "

THE CHALLENGE

It has always been a passion of mine to create an Ethical Production Plant in my home town, Bamenda, Cameroon where my garments can be manufactured. The large number of orders we received due to the brand's increased popularity and the difficulty to produce these garments in a timely fashion resparked this burtning desire.

GOALS

- To create a production plant where employees will be treated with love and consideration.

- To be innovative and bold in order to prove to the world that it is possible to run a self-sustaining manufacturing business with social and environmental principles .

To pay fair wages, provide needed social services, a pleasant place of work and a commitment to limit its environmental impact.

- To increase export to the rest of the world while benefiting from the opportunities offered by the African Growth and Opportunity Act.

- To produce high quality garments and through this provide people within our community with opportunities through employment not charity, and improve their lives, the lives of their families and the community as a whole.

- To preserve craftsmanship and improve on what is existing to create sustainable development . We believe this is a key ingredient to ending poverty in our communities.

- To offer other brands and designers from all
over the world the full CMT (cut, make, trim) process and garment manufacturing.

Your donations will go towards:

-  Purchasing a space for the factory space and setting it up with state of the art equipment
-  Salary for the employees
-  Hiring consultants for initial set up
- Producingthe  KibonenNY Fall /Winter 2017 collection and stock
- Marketing / PR/ Branding
