Hi! My name is Noah Reno, and I’m excited to bring my short film, Made of Meat, to life!

When I was in 8th grade, after a middle school dance, a friend of mine showed me a “shock video” for the first time. This one moment of unsolicited video sharing was the first of many experiences of being shown horrific, shocking, graphic, and most importantly, real videos unpromptedly. Every time I would see one of these gore videos, my week would be ruined; I wouldn’t be able to sleep and would constantly be thinking about how cruel people could be.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop recounting my experiences viewing these appalling accounts of real-life death, both accidental and intentional. Sometimes my morbid curiosity would get the best of me when hearing about these videos or awful events, and I would search them up and instantly regret it. With each new video I saw, I unfortunately grew a more nihilistic and pessimistic view of life.

Through Made of Meat, I want to explore the negative effects of consuming graphic content, along with exploring just how accessible these images and videos are to anyone and how this perpetuates the cycle of human media exploitation. With this film, I want to explore these distressing, but important, topics while maintaining a non-exploitative gaze from the film itself.

We would greatly appreciate your help or support (spreading the word is just as valuable). All proceeds will go toward casting, hot meals for our cast and crew, and production design to bring our film to life! And, of course, we would like to thank everyone who has helped bring this film together by having your name in the credits!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you at the screening!

Sincerely,
Noah Reno
