We are The King family. Our daughter, Madison, is no stranger to fighting scary battles. She is 15 years old and has spent the past 11 years battling health issues.
At 4 years old, she was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors. By 2022, she’d been through 2 rounds of chemo and all of the ugliness in between. We thought she was in the clear until March 25, 2026, when she was diagnosed with chondroblastoma-like osteosarcoma. We never imagined she would need to battle a whole new cancer.
She is currently being treated at MD Anderson in Houston. Madison and I (mom) are staying at the Ronald McDonald House while Matt and Isaac are staying home. I had to stop working in order to take care of her.
Madison is scheduled for surgery on 5/26 and is starting an injection to slow tumor growth until then. It is a complex shoulder replacement and reconstruction surgery due to the tumor type/location/implant being used. She will then undergo further treatment (chemo) once the sarcoma board at the hospital decides on the right protocol. Her type of cancer is exceptionally rare. We have agreed to further genetic testing to try to pinpoint the cause.
We are not the type of family to ask for help. If we didn’t really need it, we definitely wouldn’t ask! (If you know our family, you know that creating this fundraiser was a last resort.) However, we have private insurance and our medical bills are piling up fast! We already owe almost $4,500 and the statements keep coming. She has numerous doctor visits, blood work, scans, surgery, and treatments ahead of her (not including what she’s already had). So, if you feel led to assist us, please do. If you aren’t, that’s ok too! We just ask that you pray for her and our family during this time.
