Maddy and Melissa

My very good friends daughter is in the hospital with what they believe is a rare illness called Acute Flaccid Myelitis or AFM. This go fund me is to help them with bills in this time of need.

Maddy woke up Saturday morning and told her mom that her neck was hurting and her arms felt funny. As any parent would Melissa thought she slept in a weird position and gave her some ibuprofen, They went through the day just fine and by early Sunday morning when they woke up Maddy couldn't move her body at all. Melissa took her to the Hospital where they were then life flighted to OHSU.

Since being at ohsu they have placed Maddy on a ventilator, and she now has a chest tube. They have sent imaging all around the world to try to discover more about this illness and the best way to treat her as there have been only about 14 cases reported since 2022 to my understanding. Maddy has always been a happy healthy girl and now within a matter of hours she went from being able to run and play to being unable to move and bed bound. I'm hoping this go fund me will lift a little bit of the financial burdens for Melissa and her family.
