Maddox Johnson Medical Expenses

On Thursday December 15, 2016 our son Maddox was admitted into Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital for what just seemed like pneumonia. As a chest X-ray was ordered, even the doctors were shocked when they saw that our little baby had little to no function of his left lung as it was completely filled with infection and surrounded by fluid. He was immediately transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital by ambulance and admitted into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and has been there since. As soon as they got him to the room they had us step out immediately so they could insert a chest tube as soon as possible. He was diagnosed with complicated pneumonia with plural effusion. The Doctors said that this was the worst case they have ever seen. He had to have a PICC line and PCA pump to give him his medications and to keep his pain under control as much as possible. As the days went on, Maddox then went on to develop a pneumothorax, air around the lung, on two separate occasions. As of today, Christmas Eve, they are considering inserting another chest tube to remove the air so it does not end up collapsing his lung. Maddox has been in the hospital for 9 days now and counting. His father has missed almost 2 full weeks of work and I know his medical bills are going to be more than we could ever afford, as we are also expecting our second child in a matter of a couple weeks.
