Supporting Our Mate Luke Maddison After a Life-Changing Accident

Hi, my name is Luke Donohue and I’m organising this alongside my good mate Lochie Trahair.

On the 17th of July 2025, our great mate Lucas Maddison (aka Luke) was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. A car collided with the bike, leaving Luke with severe injuries—most notably a compound fracture to his femur in two places and a shattered right foot.

The situation became life-threatening when Luke's femur pierced through the skin and severed his femoral artery, causing extreme blood loss. Incredibly, Luke saved his own life—using his belt to make a tourniquet while holding onto his mate Kev (also on the motorcycle.) until paramedics arrived.

Who is Luke?

Luke runs a small roofing and gardening business in and around the ACT, especially in his hometown of Queanbeyan, which he loves deeply. He’s the kind of bloke who’d give you the shirt off his back, show up whenever you needed him, and lift the mood in any room with his smile.

He’s one of the most generous, loving, and hardworking people you’ll ever meet—a man with a heart too big for his chest. To say he didn’t deserve this is an understatement.

Why We’re Asking for Help-

Luke’s partner Danielle is currently pregnant, and together they are raising Danielle’s two boys, Kye and Sonny, full-time in their home in Queanbeyan. Luke and Danielle have only just made it back onto their two feet since they lost their son Joey in December 2023.

Luke will be unable to work for a long time, and the road to recovery will be physically, emotionally, and financially demanding. With a young family and a baby on the way, this situation is understandably overwhelming.

We’re asking our friends, family, and broader community to help however they can. All donations will go directly to supporting Luke, Danielle, and the kids during this incredibly tough time—covering basic living costs, bills, rehab expenses, and helping relieve some of the financial pressure while Luke focuses on healing.
