Maddison's Team England Dream
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Maddison, I am 14 years old and have just been picked to represent Team England in Cheerleading for the World Championships in Orlando in April 2025.
For so many years it has been my dream to represent my country in Cheer, It has been hard work and lots of training but I have not given up.
I had to compete against hundreds of other girls my age wanting the same dream. I was delighted when I got the letter confirming I had made the England Team.
I have been training for Cheer since I was 7 years of age, giving up some of the things a young girl would do at that age, but have not regretted it for one moment.
Unfortunately, although I have made the team, I do not get funding from the government or Sports England. This means I have to fund my own training, uniform, sports kit and travel arrangements to get myself to team events.
I am doing all I can to raise money myself to help me get to my target to enable me to make it to the games.
This is where I need your help with my target.
Please could you spare anything you can afford so I can get to Orlando this year.
Cheer has now becoming an Olympic sport, my ultimate goal would be to make the UK Olympic Team. Competing in the Orlando game would be a big step toward achieving this.
Below is from my coach.
I have known Maddison and the family since they joined East Midlands Cheerleading Academy (EMCA) in 2017, over 7 years ago. Maddison was a dedicated athlete at EMCA from she joined until the family moved away from the area.
Maddison continued her cheerleading development whilst out of Nottingham and returned to the club as soon as the family moved back to the city with the same fierce dedication and now increased skill level.
She has competed as a competitive athlete for EMCA at local, National and International events.
Maddison is a very talented athlete, she is a natural cheerleader showcasing athletic prowess in all elements of the sport including stunting, tumbling, dance and jumps. Maddison has now been successful for two consecutive seasons in being selected, following an intense tryout process, for our International U18 Level 5 team who successfully won a bid to compete at the USAS/IAS World Championships in April 2024.
This past weekend the team secured another bid to attend the championships again in April 2025.
This event is by invitation only and is a highly prestigious competition.
Maddison alongside her 23 other team mates achieved the invitation for the World Championships by successfully achieving top placements at National UK competition events.
Maddison's achievements and commitment to the club has resulted in her assisting as a junior coach with our Tiny team and she has recently completed her BGU Level 1 & 2 coaching credentials despite not yet turning 16.
Maddison has a great rapport with the athletes she assists and is a committed member of the coaching team. She willing gives up her time to assist with coaching and demonstrate at coaching certification courses.
I have had the pleasure of both coaching Maddison and overseeing her coach development. She is an extremely dedicated, talented athlete and a supportive, engaging junior coach. She is well liked by her peers and other coaches alike. Maddison has continued her commitment to the club throughout difficult personal situations and I am proud of all she has achieved so far.
She has a very bright future ahead of her and I am sure EMCA will be a continued part of this.
