Maddie's Fundraiser

Hi All,

I wanted to share an update from the Downs Family. So many of you have reached out to offer prayers, love and support to Faith, Justin and the kids, and we are so grateful to all of you.

Wednesday, Sept. 28th, will mark Maddie's 4th week in recovery after her heart surgery at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford. While she has had some setbacks, including pneumonia, blood clots, and a surgical procedure on her diaphragm - her medical team has been diligent, and she is making progress in the CVICU (recently having her breathing tube removed and starting to breathe on her own).

Justin was able to be with Faith and Maddie in CA for several weeks leading up to and after the surgery. Last week he flew home to be with the kids and start back to work. Noah and Izzie were thrilled to have him back despite their time with aunts, cousins and more recently, Grandma and Grampa K.

Faith has been spending her days and nights in the CVICU with Maddie. While Maddie is stable and progressing well, they have begun weaning her off of some heavy medications, which brings a new set of challenges, and it is unclear when she will be able to head home at this point.

Medical bills and other expenses have begun piling up from their extended stay in CA. Any support that you can offer would be a huge help and go a long way to alleviate some of the stress Faith and Justin are feeling.
