Hey. I’m Maddie. I’m five years old. I’m the cute pup hanging out by the lake in the picture above. I love going to the lake and camping with my family. A few months ago I was so excited to get to the campground that I jumped out of the truck so fast, I hurt my leg. My vet says I have a torn cruciate. That’s the ligament in my knee. I was doing ok. Mommy and Daddy gave me medicine and it made my knee feel better.

But then I started not feeling good about a week and a half ago. My food tasted good. But I kept getting sick. My other legs started bothering me and it made it hard to walk. I felt so tired. I didn’t feel like moving around. And I wanted to chase my ball but didn’t have the energy.

Mommy and Daddy got worried so they took me back to the doctor. My doctor did a whole bunch of x-rays and tests. I don’t really like the ones with needles. But I was a good girl and I got two cookies! The doctor told mommy and daddy I have VERY low platelets and my eosinophils are extremely high. They should be 1200 and mine are 17,000! No wonder I don’t feel good. The doctors are kinda puzzled and are sending me to the hospital tomorrow for more tests and an ultrasound of my belly and chest. I think they’re looking for cancer but mommy and daddy don’t like that word.

My big sister Candace has visited me almost everyday since I’ve been sick. I like that. She brings me baby food and boils me chicken. She’s the one who typed this for me. I know mommy and daddy are worried about me. They want to do everything they can to make me better, but doctors are expensive. That’s why I asked Candace to create this fundraiser to help mommy and daddy with my hospital bills.
