Maddie’s Joy

Sweet Madelynn Joan was born to Adam and Nicole Birchmeier on June 3rd, 2020. Maddie, as she was lovingly called, was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome in 2021. Despite Maddie’s diagnosis and the difficulties that accompanied it, Maddie had the most infectious laugh and sweetest personality.

On August 25th, 2023 Maddie suffered a medical emergency related to her diagnosis of AngelMans Syndrome. She passed away at Helen Devos Childrens Hospital on August 30th, 2023.

Nicole and Adam are now left to do the unimaginable of facing life without their beautiful baby girl. We are raising money to help with not only medical and funeral costs but to also support Nicole and Adam as they take the necessary time off work to navigate through this difficult time.

With Maddie’s diagnosis, she was part of a larger community of those with Angelman Syndrome. Her story was shared through blogs and videos titled Maddie’s Joy. Her story was not only seen by family and friends, but was shared throughout the world reaching 22 different countries. In Madelynn’s short life she gave so much and taught so many. Her final gift to this world was made when he parents chose to donate her organs through gift of life.

As a final way to give back Nicole and Adam intend to donate 20% of what is raised to the AngelMan foundation. Please consider helping this amazing family out by giving them the financial freedom to grieve and heal.
