Maddie's Fight for Life

Hi my name is Danny McCarthy and I am setting up a Go fund me for my Niece Maddie Bonney and her family. Maddie was diagnosed 5 years ago with a rare progressive lung disease after 3 years of being told nothing was wrong. She was already severe at this stage. The illness is called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Maddie's is idiopathic which means they don't know why she developed it. Several attempts of different treatments were unsuccessful and a drug trial that was successful had to be stopped as it made her very ill and unable to continue. Now her only hope is a double lung transplant. For this you need a carer and thats where Her Mum (Angela) and Family will obviously care for her. Unfortunately due to how sick Maddie is they have had to move to Melbourne to be ready for a lung donor as Maddie will be too ill to fly soon and obviously cannot travel on the Ferry, (lives in Tassie) as she need to be there to accept the donor's lungs. If Maddie does not get a donor soon she may need to be admitted to hospital and be put on a machine to take the added pressure off her heart to stop it from failure causing death.

While Maddie and Mum are in Melbourne there will be a hardship placed on them with the cost of living away and the fact Angela cannot work as Maddie requires 24 hour care. Some costs are covered by Government bodies but there is still a shortfall and they could be in Melbourne for up to 12 months waiting for a donor. I have set an amount I think will cover up to 12 months but should Maddie receive her transplant and regain her health, any money left over will be donated to a similar cause as we only want to cover the cost of living away for this time. Her Family and extended family will support her as best we can.
