Maddie Sukol's fight with Alström Syndrome

Family and friends are collecting money to support Kelly Wikowski Sukol and her family through a devastating time. Shortly after her daughter Maddie was born, Kelly found out that both her daughters (Becca and Maddie) suffered from a rare genetic disease called Alström Syndrome-- which is a terminal illness. In 2018 Kelly lost her husband Josh to colon cancer. A year later in 2019 Kelly lost her first daughter Becca to Alström Syndrome.

Alström Syndrome is a rare and terminal disease. There are only approximately 1,200 cases that have been identified WORLDWIDE, and the Sukol family had two of those cases: Becca -who lost her fight, and Maddie - who is nearing the end of her fight. According to Alstrom Angels, "This rare disease is one of the most brutal diseases there is, as it touches every organ in the body. Most children are lost in their late teens and early twenties due to these medical complications. Alström Syndrome can affect people of all nationalities, ethnic groups, and races."

Maddie is a sweet and sassy 9-year-old who has been battling Alström Syndrome since birth. Maddie loves school (and sadly hasn't been able to go back for weeks), she loves singing and music, her baby dolls, and telling *sometimes inappropriate* jokes that she learned from her Poppa Slag! It is unfortunately expected that her battle with this terminal illness will be coming to an end in the next few days while she is surrounded by family and endless love.

Kelly and her fiance Jason were in and out of the hospital with Maddie and have recently been staying home to care for her, unable to work. Therefore, this money will help them with financial hardships, medical bills, and end-of-life expenses during this extremely difficult time. Despite everything this woman has been through, Kelly endures each day with a positive attitude, smile, and love for all.
