Maddex Eckstein Kind Heart Scholarship

Maddex touched so many lives in his short life. He was able to bring smiles to everyone that he encountered. We’ve heard so many stories from people about how he changed their lives forever.

He struggled his entire life living with a chromosome abnormality and a catastrophic form of epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.  Some days he would have 300 seizures a day. But through his life of struggle, he was always a happy boy!!  He taught many people how to carry on even when life was tough.   He was the living meaning of true love!

We were told he would only live a year and he made it almost 14 years. We believe he was meant to teach great things in this world!  It was our honor to be his parents in his journey.

There were so many people in our lives that helped us get through our days. The countless doctors and nurses, therapists, teachers, paraprofessionsals, principles, school support, bus drivers, social workers, respite care help, and support organizations that helped us make his life as comfortable as possible.  They gave Maddex the opportunity to feel included and be able to live the best life that he could.

We can’t even express in words how much we have always appreciated them.  As a mother of a special needs child, every single person made my days easier.  This made me capable of giving everything I could to my son.

When some very special people in our lives presented to us that they wanted to establish the Maddex Eckstein Kind Heart Scholarship, we were in!  We want to start raising funds for the scholarship.  By raising $10,000, it guarantees the scholarship will be sustained forever!!!

Every year, a student that goes into a helping career and, most importantly, has a kind heart, will receive a $500 scholarship in Maddex’s name.

Nothing would make us happier than to be able to have our son’s name live on forever in such a positive way.  We want to honor Maddex’s first birthday not on Earth with us by kicking off this fund raiser. We would appreciate any donation you are willing to give to help us get to our goal.

I’ll end by quoting Maddex’s favorite song, “Don’t worry about a thing.  Every little thing is gonna be alright.” Three Little Birds - Bob Marley
