Twenty two years ago, Madame X opened her doors and invited the vast melting pot of New York into her velvet embrace.
Our goal was to provide a cozy and welcoming space where everyone could enjoy great drinks, excellent music and, most important, one another.
It hasn't always been easy. We've persevered through 9/11, the Great Recession, hurricanes and blackouts, but the pandemic of 2020 is definitely a horse of a different color.
Though Madame X herself can likely weather this storm (shout out to an understanding landlord), the loss of income to our bar staff is unsustainable. Although our industry leaders are working hard to bring in government support, this is weeks (or months) away, and won't help the most vulnerable among our staff. For many of them, Madame X is their sole source of income.
We know it's a hard ask right now, but if you've enjoyed raising a glass with Alex, Ify, John, Tony, Stella and Andres, please consider saying thanks for the good times with a donation. Please note that 100% of your gift goes directly to our staff, and will help insure they'll be there to greet you when we open our doors again.
As encouragement, we'll be publishing recipes for our tasty specialty cocktails, along with the perfect song to listen to while enjoying it. So even though we can't be with you in person, we will join you in spirit.
We've also been told that GoFundMe has put together a #SmallBusinessRelief fund that will match the first $500 donated. Please help us reach that goal!
