Hello!
My name is Madalyn Luna, and I am currently a junior pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. Music, especially classical singing, is my passion, motivation, and life-long love, and I am so excited to make my career doing that which I love most.
Very recently, I have been granted the opportunity to play First Spirit in "The Magic Flute" at the Miami Music Festival, a four-week intensive in Miami, Florida for young professionals pursuing a career in opera performance. Here is a link with more details on the fantastic program:
Miami Music Festival: Apprentice Program
This program, as are most summer festivals, costs well beyond my fiancial capabilites. An opportunity such as this is much too ideal, important, and life-changing to risk missing; not only would I be performing in a major work in the opera canon ( one of Mozart's most popular operas) over full orchestra, butI would also be under the direction of faculty from world-renowned opera companies (see a full list of staff here (bottom of page) ). I kindly and humbly ask you, my greatest team of supporters, to help me achieve such revolutionary goals. Any donation, including frequent flyer miles, would be much appreciated and cherished. To gain more insight into the financial requirements to participate, here is a timeline for and list of expenses:
Deposit and Registration: $750
Payment 1 (April 1, 2016): $1375
Payment 2 (May 1, 2016): $1375
Housing (May 1, 2016): $1150
Airfare: apprx. $300
The added value on the goal amount is for unavoidable expenses, including food, which is not included as part of the program.
Great news! With all of your generous donations thus far, I have enough to make my first payment! I am so very grateful and excited.
Unfortunately, dreams are not often achieved easily or cheaply. That is why I must extend my hand to you in gratitude and humilty for help in reaching this momentus, but achievable, goal. This would not only change my life professionally, but undoubtedly shape me into the artist I so wish to become.
