Mad mountain climbing, against cancer
Some of you may have been following my story as I climb Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey. Aiming to reach the 5180m summit in 3 days. Well, 2 have gone and tonight at 1am we will trek for 5 hours in the snow to reach the peak. Madness! But so is the depravity of cancer, as many of us have sadly experienced.
If you recall, in 2011, i shaved off my hair for Macmillan. In the recent years to that my aunt had been very diligently been cared for by Macmillan nurses and had very comfortable last few weeks. Also, at the exact time on July 7th that the head shaving occurred, my 18yo cousin was in Addenbrooks having a bone marrow transfusion for a rare type of Leukemia.
The top ages for this disease was 27.
Emily lived to be 31 until she passed last year, at this time.
I'm grateful to be able to climb this mountain in the hope to raise money for this charity that was at the time called CLIC Sargent.
This charity sponsored living accommodation for my aunt to be close to Emily while Emily had to live in a sterile environment for 3 months. Their assistance was invaluable to the mental relief of all the family.
I know money is tight but if we can all give a little I would like to raise as much for this charity as I did before.
£3800 was raised in total for the headshave, with an unbelievable £2200 from on the night.
You were magnificent!
Let's see what we can raise this time.
I love you all and thank you for anything you donate...
I'll take cash in hand if necessary!!!
