My name is Marissa. You may or may not know what this GoFundMe is for, but this is for my cat Maczko (read: MAHtch-Koh).

I've had Maczko for 6 years now, adopted when he was 4 years old. He's always been a very loving and affectionate cat, but I adopted him knowing he had FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and that his health would be fragile.

I didn't know until recently just how fragile.

Over the past year, his health has slowly slipped. At first, his White Blood Cell count started to slip, to dangerously low levels. Then, Red Blood Cell count. Now, his White Blood Cells can't even be picked up by instruments, his Red Blood Cell count is low, and his Platelets are low. What White Blood Cells they can pick up are Bands - newbies, unmatured White Blood Cells.

The main way to get something diagnosed for him would be what's called a Bone Marrow Aspiration. This is not easy for humans, much less animals, and he would need to go into surgery for them to do it. As a result, just to figure out if this is something feasibly fixable for him would be $2-3K. If this is something easily solved (bone marrow disease solved via bone marrow transplant), then $2-3K is a small price to pay for a 10 year old cat with no other major health issues.

We would be completing this procedure at the Virginia Tech Teaching Animal Hospital if we get enough funding for this.
