MacTavish Had Surgery!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mike. I live with MacTavish, a two-and-a-half-year-old Scottish Terrier. I was tasked with dog-sitting him while his owner (my roommate) went abroad for vacation. My birthday was while she was gone, and I took the day off and spent it with my little buddy Mac. Mac is a great dog and is very well-behaved. However, sometimes he likes to sneak up on you when you're in the kitchen, hoping you drop something he would love to help clean up for you. My birthday was no different. Around 4:30pm he snuck up behind me, and I stepped on his paw. While trying to correct my footing, I lost my balance and fell right on top of the little guy.
I rushed him to the emergency where they took X-rays and put a splint on his leg. The next evening the results came back, and I learned it was much more severe than I expected. His DIAGNOSIS: Right carpal medial collateral ligament rupture - medial instability and crepitation with surgery required to repair the damage.
I let my roommate know what had happened, and she contacted his regular vet, who got him an appointment with a surgical specialist the following day. After a complete examination, we scheduled surgery. My Roommate is home now and will take MacTavish in for surgery on Halloween morning.
I feel responsible for him since I was the one who stepped and fell on him. Unfortunately, the estimate for his surgery is between $8600 - $10,600, which I do not have. That does not include the $1700 we have already spent on his emergency and surgical consult visits. Mac has pet insurance, but his policy isn't the best, so we don't know how much it will cover, if anything at all. Therefore, I am making this Go Fund Me in hopes of covering his medical bills. His recovery will take several months, and there is a possibility he will need a second surgery down the line. Everything raised will go towards MacTavish's surgery and rehabilitation. If our goal is met and we raise more money than we need, any excess will be donated to the Scotties Rock Foundation, Inc., to help other Scottie parents with medical bills for their pups.
