Mac rescued me exactly on Chinese New Year (Year of the Dog), February 17, 2018...and for all my Eagles fans, Year of the Underdog. Many families gave up on Mac because he was an inconvenience. He was diagnosed with a UTI at the time of rescue. He drank a lot of water and tinkled if he was not taken out at least every 2 hours. People thought that he couldn’t grasp the concept of potty training. I welcomed Mac with open arms to my home and family because no one is perfect and we all deserve love.
After many tests and trips to the best veterinarians in the area including PennVet, he was diagnosed in July of 2018 with Ectopic Ureter. Unfortunately Nationwide is claiming that this is a pre-existing condition and is electing to not cover any of the associated expenses. Mac’s ureter connects directly to the urethra instead of bladder, an area unable to store urine, thus causing urinary incontinence.
I am asking for my birthday this year that all expenses be directed and focused on getting help for my best friend in the entire world, Mac! Nothing would make me happier than seeing Mac get help and be able to live a normal life. His surgery will most likely be sometime in June. I will keep everyone posted on his progress.
Mac is extremely smart and recognizes he has a unique condition that his peers don’t have. When I’m not at home, he refrains from drinking water because he’s afraid of having an accident inside the house. This could be for up to 9 hours if I’m at work. When I come back from work he drinks water for at least a minute's duration due to dehydration and it breaks my heart.
Thank you everyone for your time and attention.
