Mac's Surgery: A Step Toward a Pain-Free Life

Help Mac Run Again!

Hi, I’m Niki, proud dog mom to two Cane Corso's - Maze (5) and our sweet baby Mac, who just turned 11 months old. Mac is a big, happy boy with a heart of gold, but right
now, he’s in pain every day because of a serious elbow condition.

Without surgery, his pain will only get worse, and he won’t be able to enjoy a normal, active life.

We’ve tried medication, but it’s only a short-term fix and can harm his liver and kidneys if used long-term. Two veterinary surgeons have confirmed that Mac needs
surgery as soon as possible and it comes with a $6,500 price tag. We’ve applied for financing, but it doesn’t even cover a fraction of the cost.

Mac is the happiest, most loving pup. You can’t meet him without falling in love. Right now, he can’t run and play with Maze for more than a few minutes without limping.
It breaks my heart to see his puppyhood slipping away.

How you can help:
Donate any amount — every single dollar matters.
Share Mac’s story with friends, family, and dog lovers.

Your kindness will help give Mac the pain-free, tail-wagging life he deserves. From the bottom of my heart, thank you

More About Mac’s Condition
Mac came to us at 9 weeks old, a bouncy, goofy Cane Corso puppy. One day, after all his vaccinations, I noticed he was limping on his right front leg. I thought maybe
he’d been roughhousing with Maze and just needed a rest, but the limp didn’t go away.

We checked his paws, his leg, and after a week took him to the vet. X-rays confirmed Ununited Anconeal Process
(UAP), a developmental defect in large-breed dogs where part of the elbow joint doesn’t fuse properly.

Without surgery, this condition causes:
  • Chronic pain and inflammation
  • Loss of mobility
  • Early-onset arthritis
  • Risk of severe, permanent joint damage

Mac is currently on Rimadyl twice daily to control the pain, but long-term use can damage his liver and kidneys. Surgery will realign his joint and remove the loose bone
fragment, giving him the best chance at a pain-free life.

We consulted with two top specialists, Phoenix Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Iowa State University Veterinary Hospital. We’ve chosen Iowa State because of their
expertise and success rates. The estimated cost is $6,500.

Why We’re Asking for Help
We’ve applied for Care Credit and explored every possible option, but we simply can’t cover the full cost on our own. I’ve been encouraged by family and friends to
share Mac’s story here in hopes that other dog lovers might help us make his surgery possible.

If you’re reading this, thank you for caring. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this page could make all the difference. Every contribution brings us one step closer to
giving Mac the gift of running, playing, and living pain-free.

Thank you from us, from Maze, and from our sweet
boy Mac.
