My name is Sophia, and this GoFundMe is for my best friend, Mackenzie. At 22 years old, Mackenzie went into end-stage Kidney Failure near the end of spring of 2022. Soon after, she was diagnosed with a rare Kidney Disease known as IgA Nephropathy, also known as Bergers Disease. Her entire world was turned upside down within a few simple hours. She had to resign from her new full-time job position to focus on her health. She requires three days of weekly dialysis treatments, lasting 3-4 hours/treatments. Mackenzie is currently in the process of finding a living Kidney Donor, so she can return to living an everyday, healthy life. This new way of life has been far from easy for this strong girl, but Mackenzie's strength through this entire process has been incredibly admirable. She is a fighter at heart, but this diagnosis has significantly paused her life. Anyone who knows Kenz understands the love and care she continuously gives to the people in her life. She is genuinely one of the best people in this world. Mackenzie has been a one-of-a-kind friend since we were little; she was and still is always the one who continues to show up for me. Her health and well-being are my only wish these days, and I hope to support her in any way I can during these difficult times....with a bit of help from friends, family, and some kind newcomers to Mackenzie's story.
