My name is Mackenzie Hart. I am 16 years old and attend Holly High School. Through Holly High School I am in a national organization called FCCLA (Family Community Career Leaders of America). This is a leadership organization to help teens understand how to become strong leaders for their future. We help our community by devoting several hours of community service all year round and compete in a statewide leadership project competition. This year my leadership project was focused on improving fine motor skills in young children with toys. I researched by reading articles written by doctors and by talking to families around my community to learn about this topic. I then babysat for free to watch and play with kids to learn about fine motor skills in a visual way. I attended the state of Michigan’s FCCLA conference and competed with my project. At this competition I was given the honor of top gold medalist in my project group. I have also been given the opportunity to take my project to San Diego, California this June. In San Diego I will be competing with my project by presenting my project to a judging panel. I will also attend sessions to learn more about how my leadership skills can grow, how to better myself in my community and take classes to learn more about my future career in the medical field. Although I am very excited, the trip is very expensive and I need support to fund the trip. The total cost is $2,500 and is due by June 10th. The link for the homepage of the nonprofit FCCLA organization is https://fcclainc.org/.
Along with FCCLA I am highly involved with 4-H where I take care of and show many animals. I also am involved in my community with 4-H by taking my animals to nursing homes, teaching kids about my animals and learning leadership in my club. I have a strong love for kids and animals, as well as my community.
I would greatly appreciate any support to fund my trip to California. I am looking forward to growing my skills at the FCCLA conference in California so I can become an active member of my community as an adult.
Respectfully,
Mackenzie Hart
