Ich möchte dir jemanden vorstellen: Divemaster Antony aus Ägypten. Antony ist 39 Jahre alt, seit 12 Jahren glücklich verheiratet und Vater von vier wunderbaren Kindern im Alter von 3 bis 10 Jahren.

Antonys Beruf

Was für einige ein Hobby ist, ist für Antony eine Leidenschaft und Lebensgrundlage: Das Tauchen. Täglich begleitet Antony Touristen aus aller Welt auf Tauchgängen im roten Meer zwischen Marsa Alam und Hurghada. Er kennt das Gebiet ausgezeichnet und vermittelt unter Wasser das Gefühl von Ruhe und Sicherheit, was eine sehr gute Voraussetzung für die Arbeit als Tauchlehrer ist. Bisher darf er mit der Ausbildung als Divemaster lediglich Gruppen unter Wasser führen und bei der Materialwartung mithelfen, was meiner Meinung nach eine Verschwendung seiner Talente ist. Antony spricht fliessend Arabisch, Englisch und Französisch und versteht gebrochen Deutsch. Er hat eine sehr professionelle Art und kann die Grundlagen für Anfänger:innen zur Wiederholung kompetent vermitteln.

Antonys Schwierigkeiten

Aufgrund meiner Beobachtungen während meiner Zeit vor Ort habe ich Antony während unseres Urlaubs gefragt, weshalb er nach der Ausbildung zum Divemaster aufgehört hat und weshalb er nicht unterrichtet. Zur Antwort kam: "It's too expensive, man. I have a family with four kids to feed. With my wage there is not enough money left to take the courses I need." Er würde die Ausbildungen eigentlich sehr gerne machen, die Lebenserhaltungskosten für seine Familie decken sich aber meistens mit seinem Gehalt, was ihm keine Ersparnisse erlaubt. Aus dem Gespräch habe ich erfahren, dass Antony zwar gerne Gruppen führt, ihn die Ausbildung aber eigentlich sehr interessiert und reizt.

Spendenziel

Antony arbeitet 6 Tage pro Woche und kann sich mit dem Lohn als Divemaster die Ausbildungen zum Diving-Instructor also nicht leisten. Bei SSI (Scuba Schools International) beinhaltet das mindestens die beiden Kurse "Assistant Instructor" und "Open Water Instructor", um als Tauchlehrer tätig zu sein. Ich habe mich vor Ort informiert und auch mit Antony gesprochen. Die Gesamtkosten für die Kurse liegen bei ca. 3'000 Euro. Ich habe das Spendenziel bewusst auf 3'200.- angesetzt. Wenn das Ziel erreicht werden könnte, wären sicher auch die Gebühren von gofundme.com gedeckt und Antony könnte sich einen Traum erfüllen. Durch das gespendete Geld kann Antony einen Beruf ausüben, der noch besser zu ihm passt und hat zusätzlich langfristig ein besseres Einkommen, um seine Familie zu versorgen. Antony's profession

What is a hobby for some, is a passion and livelihood for Antony: Diving. Antony takes tourists from all over the world on daily dives in the Red Sea between Marsa Alam and Hurghada. He knows the area well and conveys a sense of calm and security underwater, which is a very good prerequisite for working as a diving instructor. So far, he is only allowed to lead groups underwater and assist with equipment maintenance as part of his divemaster training, which I believe is a waste of his talents. Antony speaks fluent Arabic, English, and French and understands broken German. He has a very professional manner and can competently convey the basics for beginners to review.

Antony's Difficulties

Based on my observations during my time there, I asked Antony during our vacation why he stopped after completing his divemaster training and why he didn't teach. The response was: "It's too expensive, man. I have a family with four kids to feed. With my salary, there isn't enough money left to take the courses I need." He would actually like to do the training, but the cost of living for his family is usually covered by his salary, which doesn't allow him to save any money. I learned from the conversation that Antony enjoys leading groups, but that he is actually very interested in and attracted to the training.

Antony works 6 days a week and cannot afford the diving instructor training with his salary as a divemaster. At SSI(Scuba Schools International), this includes at least the two courses "Assistant Instructor" and "Open Water Instructor" to work as a diving instructor. My name is Nicolas and I live in the Canton of Bern in Switzerland. I spent two weeks in Egypt with my girlfriend, and we spent a lot of time with Antony.
