Maccabi hockey, Team Detroit

Hi
The Hutten family is excited to be involved with Maccabi hockey for a 3rd time. Maccabi JCC builds Jewish pride through sports and promotes Jewish continuity through athletic, educational, and cultural experiences for teens age 12-16. For those not familiar with Maccabi, think of it like Junior Olympics for Jewish teens. Maccabi draws athletes from around the country and around the world in a variety of different sports.
In 2018 Lucas was a hockey player and Scott a coach when the Maccabi games were in Detroit. Again they participated in 2021 in San Diego. This summer Maccabi is back in Detroit and Lucas has aged out as a player so he will be coaching with Scott. Laura is managing the team.
Hockey is a unique sport. To practice, you can't just throw on a tee shirt, grab a ball and head to a local park. Ice time is expensive. We had a fundraiser in April and raised money for uniforms but unfortunately it was not enough to cover the ice bill. We are hoping to fund 6 practices before the games this summer.
Please support Team Detroit. Maccabi envisions a world where sports serve as a galvanizing force in strengthening Jewish pride, connection and community.
