Hello Friends and Family,
I just completed my Senior Art Show (March 10, 2017), which I curated and rented my own space for, paying my parents back for the rental, and still making a small profit. I had approximately 300 attendees. The gallery owner said it was the largest single artist exhibit she'd ever hosted. I hand printed about 100 t-shirts, and upcycled several vintage clothing items with original artwork. I sold a number of prints of my work, and assisted the gallery owner in take-down and set-up of two other shows. I am her student volunteer now, and I'm enjoying learning about curating gallery spaces, as well as marketing and selling my art.
It's hard to believe I have only 3 months left before I graduate high school, and 5 months before I move away from my home town of Las Vegas. This fall will be my first year living without my parents. I am so thankful for everyone who has given me love and support throughout my high school career.
I am very proud to say I have been accepted to Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. I am so fortunate that I have been awarded $60,000, or $15,000 per year in merit-based scholarships. While this sounds like a lot of money, this will only cover about 1/2 of my tuition for 4 years, but that does not include housing and a meal plan, along with other living expenses.
I am required to have a MacBook, as it's the preferred laptop for my school. Art schools choose MacBooks as they include a lot of software that is used for artists and musicians. Having a MacBook will help me further my education in Graphic Design, as well as many other projects. I have saved around $500 from selling artwork, but still need about $1500 more.
For anyone who can donate to this fund and help me with my future education, I will send:
$5 - $20 --- (1) 4x6 Signed Print
$25 - $50 ---(1) 5x7 Signed Print
$55 - $75 ---(1) 8x10 Signed Print
$100 + ---(1) Original Ink Drawing
$200+ ---(1) Original Acrylic Painting
$500+ ---(1) of each of the above, plus one surprise gift!
Thank you again to everybody who has helped me grow, as a student, as an artist, and as a person. The coming year is full of possibilites! I hope to make you proud of what I achieve in the future. :)
