Courtyard Shakespeare Production Campaign 2025- MACBETH
Donation protected
Courtyard Shakespeare is gearing up for another season of creativity and learning!
Created as the dream of late stagecraft educator Dan Schmidt, Courtyard Shakespeare is a non-profit theatre company based in Kansas City, Missouri. We seek to foster growth and curiosity in young theatre artists’ minds through mentorship with industry professionals. Each summer, our Resident Artists work together with students to create a professional production of one of Shakespeare’s plays. Our continued success is shown by the many Resident Artists who are passionate about returning to the Kansas City area to facilitate the program, and the number of student artists who audition to participate each year. Last year, our sold-out production of ROMEO AND JULIET was attended by 350 people, provided work for 27 artists, and facilitated mentorship opportunities for 20 high school and college aged students.
This year, we are producing MACBETH, directed by Pat Pribyl and Hersh Ellis. Rehearsals will take place from July 7th-17th, with performances on July 17th, 18th, and 19th.
Because we are a non-profit, our shows are entirely funded by your generous donations. Each year, these donations go towards:
+ Production expenses (set construction, costumes, props, lights)
+ Rehearsal/performance space rental
+ Resident Artist compensation and travel stipends
+ Materials used for instructional purposes in workshops
+ Production programs
+ Marketing and advertising of performances
In an effort to continue to grow as a professional and educational theatre company, we have some additional goals this year, including:
+ Having more time in the rehearsal/performance space
+ Providing for advanced technical needs for design components
+ Prioritizing paying Resident Artists and designers a more livable wage for their time and efforts
+ Striving for an even higher standard of artistry in our productions
There has never been a more important time to give generously to artistic organizations that are focused on accessibility and education. We strive to bring Shakespeare to the communities of the greater Kansas City area, and inspire and empower students to tell beautiful stories. Thank you for your generous support, and we hope to see you in the audience of MACBETH!
