Macaw Conservation -Save Mila and other rescues

Tax deductible

This is Mila, a scarlet Macaw chick that was found on the forest floor during a nighttime tour in the Corcovado Forest Preserve on May 3rd, 2019. She was estimated to be between just 2 or 3 weeks old, and the chances of such a young chick surviving a fall from the canopy are close to zero. Even under expert care, the cold, underweight, and extremely dehydrated chick was not expected to survive. The emergency care worker, Chris Castles, named her “Milagro” (Spanish for “Miracle”) with hopes she could pull through. Over the past months Mila has been getting stronger - Macaw Conservation Costa Rica (MCCR) is doing their best to tend to her and other Macaws that come into their care, but they need your help. Due to rapid deforestation and poaching, the Scarlet Macaw is in danger of extinction in Costa Rica.

Your donations will help cover the cost of care for Mila and future rescues. The MCCR needs incubators, generators, formula, IV fluids, pedialite, food, and a new clinic to continue their work. No donation is too small, paying for another step toward recovery for Mila and others.

Where exactly do your donations go?

$5 - One week of syringes or nursery towels to feed and care for Mila
$12 - A bottle of medicine to keep Mila healthy
$20- Fresh fruit and vegetables to feed Mila for 1 week.
$40 - Keeps the generator running for 24 hours- powering the incubator
$50 - One bag of formula to feed Mila
$550 - Incubator for Mila and other chicks
$2000 - Solar power system
