Macaroon, my "Dumpster puppy", is not well. I've had this pooch as a member of my family for 10 years. My heart melted the moment I saw her covered in goodness knows what, scrounging through the dumpster. She was 3 months old and hand shy. She already seemed as though she had experienced too much cruelty in her short life. She slept in a laundry basket that night, the only place she felt safe. But after that she was never more than inches from my side.
On 10/14 Macaroon started having issues with vomiting and not being able to hold her food down. We took xrays and gave her fluids and some anti nausea medication, hoping that she had just eaten something funky. Upon taking xrays it appeared as though she had something odd going on in her abdomen. On 10/15 we decided she wasn't improving and took her to VSEC. After initial bloodwork was completed it was determined that Macaroon had a seriously brewing infection that may possibly be the result of cancer on top of everything else. They also aren't ruling out a potential blockage. She was a happy goofy girl two days ago. And this comes as a shock to everyone.
We normally would have funds saved up for this kind of thing but unfortunately just had to take one of our cats to emergency after she started having seizures and used all of our funds to get her back home healthy and happy after intensive treatment at the same Emergency care center Macaroon is currently located.
She is my world. She is my toddlers world. He loves this dog unconditionally and she is the first one to give him his "Morning kisses" every day. I don't know what I would do without her. She is important to so many people. She has so many people that love her. We've already put down over 1,000 that we could scrounge together for her and that barely puts a dent in the estimate we were given.
We are only asking for anything you can spare. Even if it's just well wishes! During these difficult times many of us are struggling to make ends meet as we are well aware of that. We just want to be able to bring our pup home for a future of more "Morning kisses" with her favorite toddler.
I personally have spent my whole life dedicated to animals. Its why I work in the veterinary field. But even as a vet tech we make very little and are usually unable to afford emergency medical care for our own animals despite dedicating our lives to caring for other peoples pets. Its disheartening but I will fight for Macaroon no matter what the cost.
Update: Macaroon has a blockage which is likely cutting off blood flow to her organs. She needs surgery ASAP or it is likely she will not make it through another day.
I know that not everyone is comfortable with gofundme. Other options are:
