Mac Southby was the kind of soul you really only meet once in a lifetime. He was truly a nice and kind person who always tried to help in anyway he could. He lit up any room he walked into with his one of a kind personality and humor. Mac often told me that when he was out riding, was the only time he could really relax and forget his problems, all the stress and pressure of school, work, and the world in general. If you knew Mac, you knew how truly happy he was whenever he was riding. He had a different glow about him when he was on a bike. Macs father was the one who first introduced Mac and his younger brother to bikes. His father had the same love and fascination for motorbikes, as well as Sailing. Macs Father and Mother, who was in the Navy, would sail around the world together and loved traveling. His father also raced bikes and cars and often competed professionally. At one time, his father owned one of the fastest motorbikes in the world. Growing up Mac spent all the time he could with his father, who also owned a popular Boat mechanic business. In his free time, His Father would also work on his own bikes and cars. Mac spent years working on bikes, learning how they work and run, how to shift, use the different gears, and how to identify the different parts. He learned everything he knew from his favorite teacher ever, his father. When Mac turned 13, his dad gave him his first dirt bike, and the rest was history. Mac spent his teenage years riding all types of motorcycles and dirt bikes and often competed against professional bikers in competition, and win. Day after day, Mac would ride and then come back home to do any maintenance needed. He never was not talking or working on bikes, it was his true passion. In 2019, unfortunately Macs father passed away due to illness. Mac and his younger brother took their fathers death very hard, since he was the boys hero and they looked up to him for everything. Since then, Mac made sure that he would honor his father’s memory everyday by riding and one day follow in his footsteps hopefully opening his very own mechanic shop. He wanted nothing more than to be like his Father. Mac once told me if someone offered him a million dollars to stop riding, he would say no. And I truly believe that.
