Support Mabel's Spleen Removal Surgery

Hi everyone, my name is Cas and I’m reaching out because our sweet yellow lab Mabel, who some of you in St Johns may know from our walks around the business district, recently had a large mass discovered on her spleen during her yearly x-rays. The mass is about 10cm and growing slowly, and thankfully she isn’t showing any other symptoms—but the vet says she’ll need to have her spleen removed soon to prevent a life-threatening rupture.

Mabel has been with us since she was 4, and now at 12 ½, she’s truly the light of our lives. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her gentle, smiling face—even though she’s a bit shy! We want to do everything we can to keep her healthy and happy as she gets older, but the surgery will cost $8,000, and we just don’t have that kind of money right now.

The good news is the vet said the surgery is quick, safe even at her age, and dogs usually recover very well. We’re hopeful it will give Mabel more good years with us.
