Mabel Lucero Loses Home To Devastating Fire

On February 15th in the evening my mom, Mabel Lucero lost her childhood home she was currently living in to a devastating house fire.  Early that morning I called to check in on her and she said her pipes had froze over night.   I asked her if she wanted to come over and stay at my house and she said no.  Instead she opted to go over to her sister Thelmas house down the street.  My mom was still there when she received a phone call saying her house was on fire.  Thanks to those frozen pipes we still have my mom today.  My mom is no stranger to obstacles in her life.  A cancer survivor, and widowed at the age of 41 she has had many ups and downs but always found her way. My dad passed away due to terminal illness after my grandmother passed away.   After my dads death my grandfather fell ill and my mom moved in to help care for him along with the support of other family members.   After my grandfathers passing my mom remained living in the home.  She grew up in this home with her siblings and so many of us grandchildren have fond memories of the Sisneros family home.  Many holidays, celebrations, and moments of happiness were spent here.  Family gatherings, evenings playing cards, and family jam sessions on the porch are forever engraved in our minds and hearts.   It is with great sadness for this loss that I humbly ask for your prayers and any other help you may find in your heart to give in assisting my mom with restarting.   Unfortunately due to the age of the home and some needed repairs she was unable to insure the home.  In the coming weeks we will begin working on cleaning up and trying to see if anything is salvageable.   The path after that is unknown right now.
