Jim Davis is a close friend and mentor to us in the fire service. Jim had over 33 years in the fire service with the South Euclid, Chagrin Falls, Auburn Township and Russell Township Fire Departments. Jim has held various titles including South Euclid and South Russell Township Fire Marshal and the Assistant Fire Chief of Auburn Township.  Jim has been a long time member of the North Eastern Ohio Fire Prevention Association where he serves on the board of directors and was the treasurer for many years.  Jim was also a public safety educator in emergency medicine and life safety inspector courses throughout Northeast Ohio.

This year Jim had some minor leg pain and thought nothing about it.  While on a motorcycle run to Tulsa, Oklahoma with his local motorcycle group, the Iron Pigs, he had developed a blood clot in his right leg.

Over the course of that week Jim had undergone three separate surgeries and had several blood transfusions to try to stop the internal bleeding, which were all unsuccessful. The doctors tried to graft the wound to stop the bleeding which was also unsuccessful. The inevitable result was to amputate his right leg above the knee. The surgery was successful.  Jim is in good spirits but has a long road to recovery.  In the next few weeks Jim will be doing rehabilitation to regain strength and learn how to walk again with crutches and a prosthetic.

We want Jim to continue being able to focus on recovery and regaining strength. Many of you have asked how you can help. This fundraising effort is one significant way that you can.
