My name is Jan Istenič, and I am raising funds to continue my studies in jazz performance in New York — one of the most important centers of jazz in the world.

Music has been my passion and purpose since I was seven years old, when I first sat behind a drum set. Since then, I have dedicated my life to developing my craft, performing, and growing as a musician. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Austria, I have now been given the opportunity to take the next major step in my journey — pursuing a Master’s degree in New York.

This opportunity represents more than just education. It is a chance to learn directly from world-class musicians, immerse myself in the roots of jazz, and grow through real-life musical experiences that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else. Being in New York at this stage of my life is essential for my artistic development and future career.

However, studying in New York comes with significant financial challenges. Tuition, housing, and living expenses are extremely high, and while I am doing everything I can to support myself, I cannot cover these costs alone.
