In 2018 I began my studies at the David Seligman Opera School at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The course tuition fees are £14,993 per year plus additional rent and living costs. Thanks to the support of a number of generous people, I managed to secure funding for my first year of this two year course. However, I am now looking for funding for my second year at this prestigious opera school.
The course so far has been excellent and I have been very busy. In the first term I learnt four opera scenes exploring four different characters ranging from Mozart's Cherubino to Verdi's Meg in Falstaff under direction of Adrian Thompson.
In November I was a soloist in the annual Opera Gala hosted by Welsh National Opera Orchestra. Under the baton of James Southall, I sang Dorabella in the Act I Sextet from Cosi fan Tutte, and in “Make our Garden Grow” from Bernstein's Candide. I have had the opportunity to work with a number of fantastic external coaches from the Metropolitan Opera, Scottish Opera and Welsh National Opera. I have continued to work hard with my teacher Anne Mason, and have enjoyed exploring new repertoire with my wonderful coach Michael Pollock.
I was delighted to have been given the role of Nancy in RWCMD production of Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring for Spring 2019 and the role of a Mother in Welsh National Opera production of Dead Man Walking in Summer 2019.
I was very grateful for support of Funtington Music Group, The Leverhulme Trust, Mario Lanza Educational Foundation, Leathersellers' Company Charitable Fund. A big thanks also to everyone who donated on my fundraising page and everyone who has attended my fundraising concerts! Without your support, studying at RWCMD would not have been possible!
I still cannot believe that I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to study on the course of my dreams. As I am now looking to find the means to be able to fund my second year of the course, I would be so grateful if you would consider supporting me financially.
