Cooper's Story...

First, thank you for taking the time to read this.  He needs your help!

Some of you may know Cooper, some may not.  All think he's delightful.  Cooper is the youngest of four children.  Mom largely raises them by herself.  Dad helps support from afar.  Mom works long hours, shuffling multiple kids to various needs, and always doing her best to care for them.  Cooper is 7-years old.

On December 15, 2016 doctors found that a major artery (vein technically) running from the liver to the heart was severely blocked, limiting blood-flow back to the heart for redistribution.

Mom explains next steps in the early stages of understanding the situation...

As it turns out, there is an abnormal growth from the liver that is now pushing on this major blood transport and significantly diminishing the flow.  Doctor's first tried to remove it robotically, but simply couldn't.  This meant major surgery both to remedy the liver and restore returned blood-flow to the heart.

On Dec 30th, Doctors had to completely open up Cooper with a laceration that basically ran the length of the abdomen along the lower ribcage.  This left little Cooper in the Intensive Care Unit for days and in the hospital for more than week.  And we're not done yet.

Unfortunately, they still could not remove the growth.  It was too intertwined, and now a team of specialists have been strategizing how best to address the issue.

Prayers over Cooper post-surgery...

National Team of Specialists Now Needed

Because of the unusual nature of Cooper's case doctors from around the country are now studying how best to help Cooper.  Right now there are three primary facilities, in addition to the specialists here, to try and address Cooper's need:

-  Cincinnati's Children's Hospital, Dr. Tom Lin
-  Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dr. Joseph Burchenal
-  New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Tomoaki Kato

This means travel, more hospitals, more surgery, lodging and significant expense.

Cooper & family need your help!

- Multiple surgeries, more to come
- Multiple days in the Intensive Care Unit & Hospital
- Multiple Specialists and costs
- Additional needed hospitals, Dr's / specialists, travel & accommodations
- Limited Insurance
- Unresolved issue
- More Doctors
- More treatments
- More surgery(ies)
- More costs

Can you help?  $18,000 is our goal.  A goal that may in fact be far short of what is truly needed.  For now, this will help with the immediate needs.  Bills that begun flowing in, Momma's lost income caring for Cooper around the clock in recovery, uncovered medical costs and so many other expenses that will be resulting from the health concern.

Family and community members had organized a food train to provide meals for the immediate needs and relief.  However, what's needed now are funds to help with the expenses, and enormous costs ahead.

Bills have already begun arriving and more will ensue.  Can you help?  Please search your heart and donate if you can!

Also, please take 2-minutes and share this with people you know that may be able to help.

Thank you!
Cooper & family
