Hi there. My name is Jasmine and I’ve created this fundraiser for my mother, Julie.
On the 15th of March 2021, my family and I lost our beautiful girl Cleo at the age of 11.
Her downfall began around Christmas when she banged her jaw on concrete. At first we thought it was a bone fracture as she began to cry out every time she opened her jaw too wide but then she was diagnosed with MMM. Masticatory muscle myositis is an immune system disorder in which the dog's immune system identifies the dog's own muscle tissue as foreign and attacks it. The masticatory muscles are the muscles involved with chewing. MMM causes these muscles to become swollen and painful. She had many vet visits, a biopsy sent to the USA and an MRI. We were told with pain management medication that she would still live a full and happy life.
In the last week while my family went on holiday, her condition worsened as her eye started bulging and she became more lethargic. They were told it was an abscess and that she would need some teeth removed. Three days later, before the operation, they discovered a facial tumor along with a tumor on her back. My family returned home that day and three days later, she was given eternal rest.
seeing our beautiful girl go so completely downhill over the last 3 months has broken our hearts beyond repair.
The cost of Cleos vet visits, treatment, euthanasia and cremations along with vet visits and surgery needed for her best friend and brother, Ninja, who needed a tumor removed from behind his leg-twice; has completely maxed out my mother’s credit card. She has easily spent over 10 thousand dollars taking care of her babies.
I’m hoping anything that people can donate will alleviate at least some of the financial burden.
Thank you for reading. May Cleo rest in paradise.
